Problem
The Midwest Comic Book Museum showcases graphic novels, art, collectibles and movie props. The purpose of this campaign is to capture the quirkiness and spirit of comic books. The telephone booth has become an iconic place for superheroes to change clothes and receive messages from commissioners and mayors.
Solution
Build a few wooden phone booths and place them around the city. Let the wireless phone ring inside every half hour with funny and sometime mission-driven messages. Tease people to learn more about a certain villain or entice them to head over to the museum for a free gift. Either way, you drive traffic to the museum, make people laugh, and hopefully have them arrive in costume.
Impression
Widespread enthusiasm and high volume of email traffic. With Google’s intricate search people began seeing the museum campaign online. Shortly after, people contacted me regarding the possibility of a museum coming to Cleveland. I still receive similar emails and gladly deny such existence.
Responsibilities
Art Director: concept, design and execution.
